I was approached by the grandmother of an adolescent behavioral patient who was in our department for many days. On Thanksgiving, she was delivering food for the staff members, and she shared her experiences with me. His journey began heightened, emotional, and full of dangerous agitation. She spoke highly of Kristen and me on how we positively affected the difficult aspects of his stay here. She spoke to having various personalities in staff members, and she spoke to the fact that Kristen and I were named specifically by the patient in having made him feel understood in the given situations. I see this in Kristen's work each and every day, whether the patient is acuity 1 or 5, old or young, angry or pleasant. She is an incredible asset to Grady and deserves to know what a difference she makes. For this woman to return with food and thanks, along with a glowing review of how Kristen made a difference to a child who needed kindness, is extraordinary, just like Kristen.
