Sadie was extraordinary as she relieved our stress by joking with us, talking about our interests, our camping plans, as well as what was being done to regulate his heart. He was very impressed with how much she cared!
My husband was admitted to the hospital for a 3-day Tikosyn admission. Because his heart was in Afib, he received a cardioversion to get his heart back in rhythm before his Tikosyn dosages began. Even though the cardioversion was not successful in shocking his heart back into regular rhythm, his cardiologist decided that it was best to continue with the 3-day Tikosyn Admission.
Labs were drawn and sent to the lab around 8:30 am. Sadie explained that once the pharmacy received the labs, they would send the 1st Tikosyn dose. She was very thorough in her Tikosyn explanation and the correct timing of the doses. Sadie checked for our understanding and gave us time to ask any questions. She made us feel very relaxed and not rushed as she took her time to explain. She then explained that he probably would be transported to his room by 1 pm.
However, events did not follow the pattern. After the cardioversion, his heart rate began racing. Sadie immediately contacted his cardiologist. She came to the room to calm our stress and explained that as people become more "seasoned," their bodies change. She was right there to administer the prescribed medication to control his heart rate. Because the pharmacy had not yet delivered the Tikosyn, Sadie regularly contacted the pharmacy to inquire why it had not been sent. The pharmacy should have sent it in the morning after they received his 8:30 am labs. Thankfully, she was very persistent in her inquiries. Finally, after many inquiries from Sadie, the Tikosyn arrived around 1 pm and he took his 1st dosage.
Sadie ensured he was stable, and his heart rate was controlled before she transported him to his room around 4 pm. She said she wanted to be sure that the nursing staff on the floor would have no extra issues.
Sadie was thorough in all of her explanations, and she went out of her way to always be cheerful. That helped to relieve our stress as she provided excellent care for my husband. She was very persistent and determined that my husband received the best care possible. Without a doubt, Sadie is an exemplary nurse who deserves to be awarded for her empathy, awesome attitude, and persistence as she provided extraordinary care for my husband. Thank you, Sadie!
