Sarah has truly gone above and beyond to care for our baby and support us during the most challenging time of our lives. She started caring for our son when he was really sick and required around the clock attention and care in the NICU. Sarah went above and beyond to care for him, meticulously noticing the tiniest details in his behavior, putting together patterns of his symptoms and his response to care, and making valuable suggestions to the care team to speed up his recovery. She also made great suggestions for how we can help him get more comfortable and recover and taught us how to effectively parent in the ICN. She always took the time to help us understand complex medical concepts and patiently explained his symptoms and care plans. We were so fortunate and grateful to have Sarah as a primary nurse. Even when she wasn’t caring for him directly, she would regularly check in on his progress and see how we were holding up as a family during a really tough time. I always really looked forward to seeing Sarah, and she found ways to help me remain hopeful and patient, even on the darkest days in our long NICU journey. Sarah deeply cares for UCSF’s patients and their families, and we will be forever grateful and indebted to her for her caring support and deep compassion during the most difficult time of our lives. UCSF is so fortunate to have Sarah on staff, and we are very lucky to have gotten to know her and have her care for our son.
