Lauren Hazel's clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service, and commitment to excellence to patients, their families, and our staff are recognized as an outstanding role model. My precious, sweet, courageous dad passed away recently at IU North. He meant the world to us, his family. Lauren Hazel was my dad's nurse for the last 2 days of his beautiful life. She was a compassionate, sweet, caring nurse. She took amazing care of both my precious dad as a patient, and, also of us as a grieving family. She went above and beyond as a caregiver, not only doing her skillful medical job but also providing the compassion that we needed at that time. She listened to our stories and even cried with us. She was so patient with us as our entire family surrounded his bed for the last day of his life here on earth. It meant so much to us, as our hearts were breaking. We will be forever grateful, and Lauren will always be remembered. My husband and I have been in the medical field and understand how much she gave as a nurse on those two days. She deserves to be a recipient of the DAISY Award; it was created for nurses like her. Thank you, Lauren!
