I had the pleasure of meeting Sean when I went to the IU North ED in May of this year. The moment he came into my room and greeted my family and me, my night improved. He was professional but not clinical, talking to me like I was a valuable person, not just another in a long line of patients. His knowledge of my complicated situation was impressive. When I arrived, I was anxious and afraid. Within minutes of Sean's arrival, I was relaxed and confident I had come to the right place. His sense of humor, his skills at putting us all at ease, and his nursing abilities are outstanding. IU North patients would benefit greatly if you could teach other nurses to treat patients the way Sean treated me. He went above and beyond. My sister left a meeting when she heard I was in the ED. She hadn't eaten so after Sean had my treatment started, she went to find something to eat. She's a vegetarian, and the only place open was the snack bar. All the salads and sandwiches had meat on them, so she came back with a candy bar and a bag of pretzels. She told Sean how disappointing it was that there were no vegetarian options. A few minutes later, Sean arrived with a cup full of walnuts from his personal stash! I hope I don't have to go to the ED again, but if I do, I hope Sean is there to take care of me.
