For what he has done specifically, I'd say make her feel like a person again, make her feel loved and taken care of, and alleviate not only her fears but the fears of my family and our many, many, MANY questions.
Our mother had a cardiac episode and collapsed instantly and received CPR for 30 minutes. She was shocked three times by a defibrillator; her lung collapsed, her ribs were fractured, etc. I honestly thought I might lose her, and being as she is my best friend and the person I care most about, I've been very involved in every single step of recovery. (Probably annoying the hell out of everyone) Kalin, however, has gone well above the duties listed in his job description. He has been so kind, patient, and attentive to her. He checks in with her on his off time, he genuinely cares for her well-being, not only does he do what he need to for her well-being but he sits and listens to her wants and needs and most of the time accommodates them quickly beside the Dr. Pepper she requested. He has stayed on top of other departments, i.e., speech therapy and ultrasound, about getting to her quickly. He's quick to come to her side, and I'll be honest, I don't trust most people to care for her unsupervised, but I'd feel comfortable spending time away from her when he is on duty. For what he has done specifically, I'd say make her feel like a person again, make her feel loved and taken care of, and alleviate not only her fears but the fears of my family and our many, many, MANY questions. He's always happy and enthusiastic when talking with her and our overbearing family, who hasn't really left her side this whole week. A moment that sticks out most is when we had been trying to prep her for her speech therapy and get her ready to pass so she could eat and drink on her own (making sure she had lots of ice chips to moisten her throat, timing her pain meds so she would be alert when they came) because she hates feeding tubes or anything up her nose. Anyways, during the test, he kept popping in, looking sneakily for a signal on how it was going and was just as eager as her family for her to pass. She has had many incredible nurses this week, only one we did mesh well with, but Kalin is a top-notch person and health care provider.
