I just wanted to take a moment and thank all of you for assembling such a cohesive team at Westchase.

This past Monday night, I started my shift in a busy emergency department. The team here helped me take care of a lot of people efficiently and effectively. They did an amazing job with customer service and quality of service.

Just as things began to settle down, in the early hours of the morning, an eleven-year-old child was rushed to our ED in respiratory distress. I was with another patient. The team grabbed me, and I walked into a room with an eleven-year-old who had severe sternal retractions and wasn't moving any air. This is something I have never seen in a child that age. Before I could even say a word, the child was undressed, given supplemental oxygen, placed on a monitor, an IV was established, etc. I asked for a racemic epi (as well as other meds), and it was there in the blink of an eye. Honestly, this child was probably a few short minutes away from a full respiratory arrest. If it hadn't been for the efficiency and skill set of the team, the outcome would have been very different.

I have to give a special thanks and kudos to Rich Cole for his clinical acumen and especially for his leadership with the team. He was calm, cool, and collected. Most importantly, he was instrumental in keeping the family and patient informed and calm.

Thanks again for having and keeping such great people through the pandemic. Your leadership shines through the daily/subtle actions of all those who work with you.
