Ben was immediately friendly and compassionate when we first met during my second night in the ICU. He made me feel comfortable with our initial conversation regarding how I was feeling and how my day went. He was very thorough in explaining the things he would be monitoring and the tests that would need to be completed. He apologized for waking me and explained what he needed to do. He always asked if I needed anything throughout the night and made sure I was comfortable so I could get back to sleep. It was great that Ben and I shared some personal information and what we enjoyed outside of the hospital. Chatting about our personal lives helped establish a trusting, comfortable relationship and helped me think of happy times, which took my mind off my stressful situation in the ICU. Ben was working the night shift and he had a very long night of frequently monitoring me throughout the night. He was very attentive and empathetic to my situation! I'd like to thank Ben and acknowledge his awesome care for me! I admire the outstanding care he provides in the very stressful situations he sees daily in the ICU. Ben's friendly and compassionate attitude with his patience truly exemplifies the qualities that the DAISY Award recognizes!!
