Layne regaled us with wonderful stories of flyfishing, which took my brother out of his pain. Let my brother sleep at night and protected his rest by grouping his care and limiting access, and using his discretion with pain meds. My brother got 4 straight hours of sleep! He hasn't had that in the 3 1/2 months he has been hospitalized. SO HELPFUL, mentally, physically, and emotionally! 

When shift change came, he waited for the next nurse, but when she got caught with another patient, Layne just did everything himself. My brother is a bariatric paraplegic with a colostomy and a Foley catheter, so needless to say, that was a LOT. And he just chatted and did it all effortlessly (it seemed), though his 12-hour shift was over because my brother was in pain and needed to be turned. 

Wonderful nurse. I had flown in to see my brother and asked if I could spend the night if I stayed in the room, and he said, 'Sure!' It Made a world of difference (contributed to my brother being able to sleep. Thank you, Layne. All the nurses have wonderful. But he really stands out.
