Leanna was so encouraging, insightful, and kind, and she was right. The evening after transferring her to the inpatient hospital, she passed away. It's nurses like Leanna that we are grateful for knowing our mom had the best care and compassion in her last week on earth—what a comfort to us all.
Our 93-year-old mother was hospitalized after a fall and hip fracture in early December 2023. Although she pulled through the surgery well, she needed daily intensive PT to get her walking again. We transferred her to Crichton for inpatient rehab because we had heard good things about the facility. And it was very good care and also the rooms and environment were cheery and clear. Most of all, she had the most caring and attentive nurses and aides. Leanna was often on duty while she was there and took time to explain things to her and the family since she was often confused. Her prior weakness impeded her progress, and even with daily intensive PT, she declined in health a little more every day. It was obvious she was not getting well, and the staff was preparing us for the possibility of hospice. Leanna was very observant of her condition and gently started to discuss with us what to expect. She looked as if we wouldn’t have her with us much longer. She encouraged family to visit now while she had moments of clarity and kept up on keeping her comfortable every way she could, including timely pain medicine and special ice creams she enjoyed a few more times. Leanna was so encouraging, insightful, and kind, and she was right. The evening after transferring her to the inpatient hospital, she passed away. It's nurses like Leanna that we are grateful for knowing our mom had the best care and compassion in her last week on earth—what a comfort to us all. Thank you, Leanna, and God Bless you and your family.
