I went to the NICU, and Victoria made them little headbands. They were wearing them when I walked in. Something so little meant so much because it made everything seem a little more normal. “Normalcy” was all I wanted when they were in the NICU.
Having babies in the NICU was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced as a mom. Coming into the NICU for the first time, hearing all the beeps, and sounds, seeing your baby attached to tubes, leaving the hospital without babies, and knowing you cannot take care of your own children, it is all new and hard! Angels of the NICU, doctors and nurses step in and make it all seem OK. Victoria was our angel! She put my mind at ease that my twins would be OK and that the process she was so kind and caring, understanding, knowledgeable, and most of all loved my babies like they were her own. She was our primary nurse for most of their days, and I spent many days with her. Even though I was nervous to provide care to my teeny tiny babies, Victoria encouraged me and taught me how to care for them. I knew that when Victoria was their nurse, they were in the best hands possible because she cared so much about them and our family. That was an absolute comfort for the mom of a NICU baby. One thing I will always remember is that one day, I went to the NICU, and Victoria made them little headbands. They were wearing them when I walked in. Something so little meant so much because it made everything seem a little more normal. “Normalcy” was all I wanted when they were in the NICU. It also showed how much she cared about them, and they were not just another patient; rather, she loved them and wanted them to look adorable. The small gesture completely boosted my mood and confidence. I do not think I can ever adequately thank Victoria and the NICU for all they did for our babies. It was so special when we donated bags for NICU moms in honor of their birthday, we got to see Victoria and she got to see them growing and thriving. I was not upset or teary-eyed about them turning one, but I was driving to the hospital; knowing I would see Victoria, it all hit me. She holds a special place in her heart and always will. I will be sure that my girls always know who Victoria was and such an important part of their lives. Victoria is an absolute gem and an absolute DAISY Nurse. Every family that has her as their nurse is truly lucky!
