When she came back into the room, she saw I was scared and crying. She took my hand and said if I could do it, you can. I did it, and so will you.
This nurse was a godsend to me. I was sitting in the waiting room, depressed and scared – I had no idea what I was going to do. I had been going through chemotherapy and did not know what was next. Two days after my first double chemo treatment, my colon ruptured after years of having diverticulitis that I did not know I had.

I was in the hospital with septic poisoning and had no idea what to do. I wanted to just quit. After colon surgery, I went upstairs to a private room. As they were settling me in, the nurse made the comment that they had a nurse who was going through what you went through. I made a comment back that I would love to talk to her. The next day she was assigned to me as my nurse. After the morning pill rounds, she came back to talk to me. When she came back into the room, she saw I was scared and crying. She took my hand and said if I could do it, you can. I did it, and so will you. Then, about two hours later, we were laughing and joking. She changed my whole outlook. I will never forget what she did for me.

That day, she saved my life. I don’t know how to thank her. In some way, this will help. I will never forget what she did for me.
