Today we had a consult with locum Dr K to discuss cancerous diagnosis and next steps. The visit was extensive and most people had gone on home. Dr K stepped out to check on bone scan and found Dr C’s nurse still in the office. We are sure it was past time for her to be gone home. Well she went way above and beyond despite the late hour. She came in to visit us and found a way that we could be seen by the surgeon the very next day. She even offered up other alternatives so the wait would not be so long when we were dealing with and aggressive form of cancer. She expressed care sincerely, found answers to complex questions, provided resources and all of this after hours. We have visited doctors/nurses a LOT over these last years and rarely do we come across someone like this nurse who truly lives out her calling to healing ministry. She is more than deserving of this award as she truly stood out as an exception to the rule. So inspiring to meet and interact with a nurse of her caliber.
