I was admitted to the ED for a heart attack. I was put on the 6th floor for heart monitoring. Kayla was my nurse, or maybe a better description is an angel. I’m a mom of 3 boys and was scared for my life. Kayla demonstrated compassion, and empathy and showed that she cared. I wasn’t a number for Kayla. I was the mom who didn’t know what the future held or how I was going to return to my normal. Kayla calmed my fears, dried my tears, and reassured me I was in the best place to get the care I needed. She was in constant communication with me on the next steps, tests, and doctors who would be visiting from cardiology. Kayla held my hand when I was taken for an emergency cath at 2 am. Kayla checked on me after the procedure and demonstrated such care. I will be forever grateful to Kayla for her care and concern as I recover. Kayla went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. She treated me and a connection was made. Although I missed Hamilton due to my heart attack, I met Kayla, a gift I will never forget.
