My son-in-law brought my daughter in at 36 weeks pregnant with their first baby; she had been having severe pain that she described as sharp and constant. At this point my daughter's pain continued to get worse, she couldn’t get away from it at all 10/10 sharp pain, she was terrified not knowing what was happening, not knowing what to do, and as a mother the thought of her being scared and in pain that was literally making her delirious absolutely breaks my heart. When she got put in a room her new nurse, Lourdes worked very quickly trying help my daughter relax and breath through the pain, she was comforting and compassionate while she worked quickly and skillfully. My daughter ended up with an emergency C-section for an abruption; she never bled outward, so everyone just kept saying, “It’s normal,” but Lourdes listened to her, she observed, and she used her training to think out of the box into other possibilities for the pain, she was there with my daughter from beginning to end comforting and educating the entire time. My daughter doesn’t remember a lot of what happened in those hours, but she remembers Lourdes there at her side every time she opened her eyes. When we were finally allowed to see my daughter nurse Lourdes was still at her side, she all of our questions and put us at ease while continuing to provide my daughter with great care. If it weren’t for this angel in scrubs and the amazing Doctor, I could have listed them both that night. I truly am beyond grateful for her. God puts people in our paths for a reason, and she was definitely placed in our path to save them both.
