Destiney eased the patient's anxiety that first night, as the patient was scared to be alone throughout the night.
Destiney took care of a patient who lost her baby at just 16 weeks. She had to hang two units of blood and treat a transfusion reaction. But despite the chaos of the night, she took the time to make a tiny hat for the baby so the mom could bury her with it on. Then, she made another identical one for the mom to take home as a keepsake. Destiney eased the patient's anxiety that first night, as the patient was scared to be alone throughout the night. Destiney sat at her bedside for hours upon hours, just providing comfort and empathy in a very traumatic situation.
When the patient was discharged, Destiney organized flowers to be sent to the baby's funeral from the unit. She truly went above and beyond for this grieving mother, just as she does with all our moms. She provided excellent care in a crisis and also irreplaceable emotional support. Our unit wouldn't be the same without her!
