Lindsey has a very good rapport with those patients whom we see on a regular basis due to issues from surgery or if chemo is needed for another cycle. She always remembers particulars about her patients, be it a family member's name or a patient fact.
Lindsey is a devoted nurse and passionate patient advocate. There is not just one story that sums up all the wonderful ways Lindsey gives to her practice, her patients, and her unit every shift. She is a positive force on 9D and makes the unit a better place. She always speaks up for her patients, whether there is a question on a medication or a procedure that needs to be clarified. She targets her care to the patient's situation and will maximize the best response for a positive outcome. Lindsey empathizes with her patients. If there is a difficult task she has to do and the patient is having a difficult time, she will give them a hug that even you would feel if you were standing by the bedside. Everything she does is patient-centered. Lindsey has a very good rapport with those patients whom we see on a regular basis due to issues from surgery or if chemo is needed for another cycle. She always remembers particulars about her patients, be it a family member's name or a patient fact. She is a hard worker, problem solver, fervent team player, and always takes the time to get to know her patient and their family. She shares information so that all are comfortable with the situation and makes sure questions are asked and resolved. She has a good working relationship with the doctors on the unit, which includes many Medical teams and our dedicated Oncology and Transplant residents and Faculty. You won't see Lindsay at her desk very often because she is checking on her patients, making sure they are comfortable, having a chat with a family member, spending extra time with someone who just received awful news, and really just taking the time out of her day to stop and make someone feel special. She will not hesitate to run downstairs to grab a med from pharmacy, some device from ICU or surgery that we need but have to wait for someone to deliver, walk a vial to the lab to keep things moving without a delay in care. She takes the time to teach her patients and her student nurses. I am amazed when she is charging with a full patient load that she has the time to help me with a task and just pops up when I least expect her. Lindsey is an amazing nurse and truly embodies the spirit and dedication of a DAISY Nurse.
