I would like to recognize Leadia Allison-Reid for an awesome catch. Leadia was caring for a 9-month-old in Fast Track being evaluated for flu-like symptoms when she noticed the baby’s mother was withdrawn and not consoling the baby. She went in and consoled the baby and began a conversation/formed a relationship with the mother and identified that she was overwhelmed/depressed and ultimately suicidal. The mother was then checked in as a patient and triaged, had a screening, and admitted to inpatient psych. Leadia’s awareness of not only the patient at hand but also the surroundings of her environment helped her intervene and get this woman the help and support she needed. Leadia is truly a DAISY Nurse.
