I work in endoscopy, and on occasion, we detect colon cancers. Kathy is a valuable resource to our department because so much happens when a patient receives that diagnosis. Patients oftentimes can't process or digest what that diagnosis means. Kathy is there to pick up where we leave off and we are so thankful for her dedication and availability to us and more importantly our patients. 

She always does amazing work, but what spurred me on to nominate her today, though, was a patient I took care of for a surveillance colonoscopy after resection of colon cancer. The patient brought up Kathy's name because of how incredible she was: approachable, available, and just all-around awesome. The wife added to the conversation about how pleased they were with the coordination of his care and how wonderfully Kathy cared for her husband.

Kathy continually goes above and beyond, but having this patient bring up her name without being prompted reminded me exactly how much she truly is leaving a mark on our patients.
