Kate told them that I was her patient and gave them every bit of fact about me. All while holding my hand and telling me to breathe and that I was in good hands.
Kate holds a special place in my heart. She was my nurse two days while I was on the 4th floor. The first day was pretty routine, yet memorable. Anytime I needed help, she was in my room ASAP with a smile and whatever I needed. She never dismissed my needs and really listened. The second day was not good, but not because of Kate! I went into anaphylactic shock from meds, and a rapid response nurse from the ICU had to be called. This was one of the scariest experiences of my life. During all the chaos and commotion, I remember Kate's voice and face telling me, “I have you. You’re okay. You are going to be okay.” I remember laying there with my BP dropping to dangerous levels and hearing Kate talking to the ICU team. She told them that I was her patient and gave them every bit of fact about me. All while holding my hand and telling me to breathe and that I was in good hands. As soon as she called for the response team again, she did the exact same thing she had just done. She kept her cool in the whole situation and made me feel safe during that time. I feared I was dying. Kate, you are a hero to me, and I have nothing but respect for you.
