This nurse exemplifies what an excellent nurse should be. I am a retired nurse that actually had to sit down for a few days and think about what I wanted to say about this special person. This nurse is the best of the best. She has found her calling, and we, as patients, are so lucky to have her. She is smart, skillful, educated, calm, and compassionate. She instinctively knew that I was in a very dark place. She took the time to help me accept what happened and started to educate me on my condition- Afib, even though she knew I was a nurse. She would also stop and give me a hug when she knew I needed it the most. One night I asked her what would happen if I pushed myself a little and tried to get a shower. She told me she was worried about me doing so but understood why I would want to try. Next thing I knew, she was at my door with everything I needed for a shower and a clean bed. Even though she had other patients, she never seemed rushed or annoyed. She encouraged me and cheered me on. Sacred Heart and PCU are lucky to have such a wonderful nurse. Our wish for her is that her skills, her knowledge, and her compassion will follow her throughout her medical career. I will never forget her.
