I was diagnosed with (condition) in 2019. With that diagnosis, I have been a repeat patient at UChicago Medicine ever since. Clare Cooke has been one of the nurses who routinely performs my (procedures) which were weekly, then biweekly, and now monthly. I have gotten to know Clare well over the years due to our consistent interaction. She has been a constant presence for which I have been ever so thankful. Her consistent positive, kind demeanor, paired with her encouragement when (procedures) are painful and difficult, has been a true lifesaver for me. It’s easy to feel discouraged when you have the level of (condition) dysfunction that I have, but I can always count on Clare to make any treatments bearable. It has allowed me to look forward to my appointments knowing that SHE will be doing them. She is not only beyond kind and compassionate, but she is highly skilled in what she does. She goes above and beyond to make sure I’m doing OK and that the procedure goes as smoothly as possible. With (condition) dysfunction, any type of catheter is a painful process, and she has gone above and beyond to find a catheter that I can handle with my pain levels. It may not seem such a big deal to some, but it’s life-changing for me because it makes a HUGE difference in my pain. I would’ve stopped a long time ago and dealt with my dysfunction if Clare hadn’t found a way to make it bearable. As a routing patient who has come to rely on the kindness and compassion of nurses and doctors at UChicago, Clare is a gem.
