I was hospitalized at Bethesda North Hospital with a rare and sudden condition called Spontaneous Pneumothorax – this directly translates to a sudden collapse of the lung. At the time of diagnosis, my lung was at 45-50% and operation had to be completed immediately to save my lung. The Doctors, Nurses, and Surgeons took great care of me with my operation and Surgery (Blebectomy with Talc & Pleurodesis) two days later. While I was hospitalized, I was under close supervision by a team of wonderful nurses. One of the nurses happened to have asked what I did for a living; this was Charm! She was one of the overnight Nurses who took great care of me. Once I provided her details about what I get to do, the opportunity I had to assist Nurses similar to her, as well as the position I held, she began to connect the dots. She quickly realized that I was a member of the PPUSA Team and proceeded to thank me! Confused, as I have never met this lovely lady in my life, she explained further that she was a Filipino Nurse who had just recently completed the PPUSA Program and arrived here in the US to commence work only three months ago. As I began to shed a tear, she reassured me that she was more than thankful and grateful and praised Health Carousel for providing her the opportunity to fulfill her goals and dreams in life. She stated the following: “Now that you all have taken great care of me, I assure you I will take exceptionally great care of you. Please let me know if you need anything whatsoever or have any questions at all. As you were with me, I am here for you”. These are words I will not ever forget.
