When I arrived on the unit, Shameca was there to greet me with that warm smile and get me settled. I had not planned to stay overnight and wasn't sure what to expect. Shameca spent the last hour or so of her shift getting me settled. She was kind and gentle, working swiftly yet not appearing rushed. She was confident in what she was doing. Her smile would show up regularly. She returned the next morning, bringing that smile with her. She made me feel like I was her only patient, all the while communicating with my doctor. Shameca went the extra mile. Shameca and her teammates made my stay as pleasant as possible. Shameca loaded me into a wheelchair and took me out to my ride home. A big hug and a few thank yous from me, and I left smiling inside about this extraordinary lady who made my life better!
