My daughter, L (age 5), was diagnosed with ALL. In all the craziness that comes on quickly with this diagnosis, Kaitlyn was our steady rock. There were so many wonderful caregivers, but Kaitlyn provided me support and answers to questions every turn of the way. I have two specific stories to share, but there are so many more. First, she was our advocate with our home health service. One time L was to be given chemo at home through her port for a few days. Home health provided this service, but one day they had staffing issues. Kaitlyn spent much time in contact with them trying to work it out. In the end, she patiently and expertly walked me through the process of administering the chemo. The more recent example is from towards the end of treatment. My husband and I took a vacation, and my mom was taking care of L and her sister. My mom had some questions about L's pill schedule and instead of "bothering" me, she contacted Kaitlyn. My mom commented how wonderful Kaitlyn was and that they were able to get the concern/questions figured out and all was good. I really cannot express effectively how valuable Kaitlyn has been through these past two years of treatment. (We were thrilled when she came back from her maternity leave during this time.) I cannot imagine having gone through this without her.
