Patty Benjamin has been a RN for 20-plus years donating her time, money, cooking skills, and organizational skills.  Patty has always participated in Annual Heart Walks, Bake Sales, food/toy drives, and clothing drives for garage sales, all for VH NICU. Patty has also been an avid supporter and organizer of the NIU Preemie Picnics and yearly Santa Visits/ photographs. About four years ago when our long-time Santa retired Patty went into action and recruited a wonderful new Santa. She also has donated money, printer, and printer paper to obtain photos of our patients with Santa for all parents to have along with their consent. It’s hard to express the number of things she does that make a positive impact on our patients and their families. Patty does so much for our tiny patients in and outside of work. She took on the task of doing our first NICU reunion in over 20 years, which was amazing! And now, she is getting ready to have Santa come to take pictures with the babies this week and next. She makes being a NICU baby a special experience for the baby’s family.
