I worked with Katelyn, RN, on various units in the past, and lately, I worked side by side for two consecutive days. Recently, I worked with her on TMSU. One of her patients required lots of medical intervention. Katelyn, from the start of the shift, made that patient her focus. After she assessed the patient, she promptly reached out to the night provider, who kindly arrived at the bedside to assess the patient’s condition. In addition, Katelyn engaged her mother, who was sitting in the corner at the bedside. 

Little later, the patient’s mother asked Katelyn,” What kind of unit is this? Only special nurses are working here? I have been in this hospital many, many times with my daughter, and today, I see how much you care and how attentive you are to my daughter’s condition. How many patients do you have?”

Closed to midnight, the mother stated, “I never left her alone while in the hospital, but after I see how much you care, I will go home to rest a little because I had a biopsy this morning, and my back is hurting me.”

I am honored to have witnessed this event and strongly believe Katelyn is always very attentive to her patients.
