Bekah was a truly amazing nurse. Not only will my child remember her experience with her, but so will I! She was patient and caring and really took the time to make my child feel extremely special in such a scary time. No question was left unanswered or unexplained. She not only took care of my child physically in a warm and playful way (playing pretend roller coaster ride with the bed when needing to move her up) sticker time, dance party over medicine. She also took it a step further and when the chaplain wasn’t available, she looked after the spiritual needs of healing for her. My little prayer warrior got to pray with her nurse for her rapid healing. Can't say I've ever been seen by a doctor or nurse who also met such an important part of our spiritual lives and healing quite like that. She took the time to sit with us after her shift was already over and prayed with us. That alone was enough medicine to put a smile on my child’s face. 

She even took the time to get on my child's level and tell her that she made a difference in her day. I told her it was definitely the other way around. She has an incredible healing, spiritual, loving personality that just shines through. Every time she walked through the door brought on fun times for my daughter. She made every experience fun, even suctioning her nose, eye drops, and mouthwash shake. My daughter would talk to her friends and family about the things the nurse would do with her. I think she felt she was actually lucky to be here because she would almost forget she was sick. That's some pretty strong medicine! Advocate Children’s Hospital is very lucky to have such a driven & passionate nurse.

While I don't wish there to be sick kids, I truly hope she gets to touch many little hearts just like she did my daughter's. Every sick kid deserves a nurse like Bekah. We only wish we had her a little longer and my daughter was sad to see her go. She liked being with her so much she got a picture with her to keep this experience with her. While it's never fun to be sick, this day was a not so bad one as far as being in a hospital goes. I truly see a difference in her since working with Bekah today. She is full of smiles and back to being a kid!
 
Every children's hospital needs nurses like her. She truly made an impact & difference on my child & we wish her all the luck in her future. I hope she continues to fill your halls with her joy & passion! She deserves to be recognized & I hope she gets to read this.
