I was having an emotional breakdown that morning about some family issues, and I couldn’t stop crying. She took the time out to see what was wrong with me and consoled me until I calmed down.
I had Nurse Cat for 2 days while I was in the hospital. The first morning I met her, she was as pleasant as a hummingbird. She made me feel very comfortable and took care of me like her life depended on it. I was so amazed by her professionalism. I said to myself, “If I were a nurse, I would ensure that I was as professional as her. She is absolutely phenomenal. Nurse Cat is making me feel right at home. When she left for the day, I was nervous about the next nurse because you just don’t know whose shift is next, but I was happy with the night nurse. But then the next morning she was there again with her same welcoming and calming self. Although I am experiencing a serious illness, she helped me to focus on the positive side of things and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. I was having an emotional breakdown that morning about some family issues, and I couldn’t stop crying. She took the time out to see what was wrong with me and consoled me until I calmed down. Here I was this strong-spirited individual who has always dealt with things head-on, and I’m not a cry baby, but she took the time out to make sure I was ok, and I can’t say enough about her because in that moment I knew that patients need a nurse like her to care for them because she not only does her job very well, but she definitely wears her heart on her sleeve. I had to nominate her for this award because she gives people who are going through hope that they have a fighting chance. She definitely deserves this award.
