Tanner has truly changed the environment of the department by gaining the trust and buy in from all staff members.
Tanner was nominated by four colleagues who collectively transcribed his compassion, advocacy, and exemplary leadership into a seven-page nomination.

Some highlights include statistics on Tanner's unit. Since entering his leadership role, Tanner has increased engagement to 91%. He has also improved “On time” stats from 4.5% to 73% and increased the number of charge nurses from 4 to 14. To quote his nomination, “The Interventional Cardiology PCD was a job that no one wanted and even high-ups had labeled the department and staff as "difficult". Tanner has truly changed the environment of the department by gaining the trust and buy in from all staff members.”

Tanner’s giving attitude and positive energy are contagious. As his nomination describes, “During the recent flood the Director asked Tanner to reach out for volunteers to staff the cardiac ICU if they needed help due to possibly short staffing due to the storm. Tanner was the first to volunteer and lead the way and said he would volunteer to stay after his PCD hours which led to other nurses volunteering. Ultimately, it was not needed, but it was a huge statement of his dedication to all patients.”
