On this day I was having suicidal thoughts and wanted to end it all. I was so fed up with the VA system and felt I had no support. Nurse Rosario changed my perspective of the VA. I had no appointment at the clinic, so I walked over there. Ms. Rosario agreed to meet with me. Ms. Rosario created a safe environment for me. She remained respectful, supportive, and listened. These convos about killing myself were super difficult and uncomfortable. But with Ms. Rosario, I felt like she was family. She advocated for me by making sure a provider was available to meet with me for further assessment. Ms. Rosario established a high morale to build trust and confidence. I even asked the provider if Ms. Rosario could sit with me while I met with them. After the appointment, she walked me to the pharmacy to ensure I received my medication. She stayed committed by ensuring I received the care and following her duties. She advocated and provided me with resources, veterans crisis line info, and other benefits like patient advocate and chaplain services. Ms. Rosario is respectful. She accepted my concerns and didn't take offense that I identify as a woman. she has a purpose and is mindful of veterans' perspectives. Ms. Rosario is an Extraordinary Nurse who provides excellent communication, care, and respect. I came to the clinic knowing I wanted to hurt myself, and she ensured I received the services and even followed up 1-2 days later. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here today.
