Kim Baker has gone above and beyond of any leader I have ever encountered. She currently covers the Methodist Cath Lab, Cardiovascular Sonography lab, EKG Techs, as well as the Neurology Department. Since she became our service leader, she has had a role in almost every department when they have been short-staffed. No other service leader in the 5.5 years I have worked here has ever actually done the grunt work of the positions they oversee. She has physically gone room to room to do EKGs when needed. She even learned how to do EEGs when the hospital had no tech to do EEGs. She is constantly filling in holes with her service department going above and beyond what is usually expected from a Service Leader. 

Even though Kim is constantly on the move, she is still easily accessible and always offers help whenever she can. She is always pleasant and helps critically think to solve any issue that may arise.  She motivates everyone under her umbrella to be the best they can be by showing that she is also willing to do what needs to be done. She actively communicates with each department to ensure everything will run smoothly throughout the day, at least as much as possible. She has created an environment of compassion, trust, and professionalism through her hard work and dedication to this hospital. 

I can’t provide too many specific examples because this is not just a one-time thing. She is constantly helping everyone out and going above and beyond what any other service leader would do. Kim Baker is more deserving of this award than 99% of the people I have worked with, not only in my sonography career, but in my 11 years of healthcare. Kim embodies the true mission, vision, and values that Methodist upholds.
