Having Nikella with her team watching our father gave us a little peace of mind about this tragic thing happening to our family.
My father, who had a horrible stroke that left him almost completely paralyzed, is in a state where he needs nothing less than complete care. From moving his body to avoid bed sores, cleaning his waste, having suction in his trach, and avoiding build-up while we visited the hospital. We had the pleasure of having nurse Nikella Kanhai, who was excellent with her bedside manners and professionalism.
My father was cleaned, constantly moved, and monitored by Nikella and her team. I was pleased to have such a wonderful nurse and people looking after my father. Traveling every day between my mother, sister, and me was an exhausting experience. It took about 45 minutes to an hour a day. Having Nikella with her team watching our father gave us a little peace of mind about this tragic thing happening to our family. She also carried herself with polite, positive reinforcement and energy whenever speaking to us, which is a huge part of being in the healthcare field.
I gained respect for her when we came and checked to see how he was doing, she came to us to introduce herself and asked if we had any questions. When we noticed he had a bit of a mess on him from his food, she immediately went to get help and clean my father. In many cases that we experienced, we would have to do the cleaning, but not in this case. I understand that being a Nurse is a stressful and tiring job but what I saw I respected. I respected the hard work and dedication Nikella had as a nurse and overall being a decent human and having compassion for my father.
