Roberto’s caring and compassion for his patients radiates through the ICU. He never once made us feel ignorant of the situation at hand. He explained medications and possible scenarios with an empathetic tone and gave us best-case scenarios. His professionalism and expertise didn’t let us down. My 81-year-old dad had just been released the day before from a different hospital too early and against our will. When my dad got to the ICU, Roberto was kind and caring and walked us through every step he was taking and calmed our nerves when he saw us worried. He felt like a distant cousin rather than a stranger we had just met. He explained things on our level and made sure to translate when other specialists spoke to us using medical terminology. He even invited us to join the “rounds” during my father's time just in case we had questions we could speak to the direct specialist.
