With each type of call light she brought in, she would show the patient how each one worked, and then she and the patient would work together to see what the best way to use each call light would be.
This nurse helped a patient who had severe mobility issues (he could hardly move his limbs, cut/eat his food, had issues swallowing, had to be repositioned every 2 hours at least, and had bowel/bladder issues. Just to name a few.) Due to his severe mobility issues, using his call light was very tedious for him, to the point where the patient didn't want to use it when he needed anything. This nurse spent hours with him trying to find a solution to his particular issue. She tried multiple types of call lights and then tried to modify each of them to work best for his individual situation. With each type of call light she brought in, she would show the patient how each one worked, and then she and the patient would work together to see what the best way to use each call light would be. This nurse would add modifications (cotton balls, tape, red markers, EKG pads, extra clips) to the call light to fit his particular needs. The whole time the patient kept telling her that "he was too much work" or "he was taking too much of her time" or "being too much of a bother to everyone". The nurse would always reassure him that he was in good hands, that she was there for whatever he needed, and they would find a solution. She spent many hours with this patient till a solution was found. The patient thanked her so often for the time she was spending with him and not just rushing out to get away.

This nurse worked so hard to ensure that this patient's needs were met in a timely manner and that he was never without a lifeline to the staff.
