Amidst the busyness, Kamie looked me in the eyes with reassurance that my team was taking the right steps to help me.
Kamie was amazing. My wife chose to give birth naturally, and Kamie was extremely supportive and encouraging. Every time she came into the room, she was so positive and loving. She took a lot of time to explain and even demonstrate different things my wife could do to progress the labor and alleviate pain. Kamie’s experience really showed. She was extremely confident and knowledgeable but not overbearing. She was calm and collected. She made the atmosphere feel like exactly what we needed in such a stressful environment. She explained things so clearly and made sure we understood. She also paid a lot of attention to me (husband) and made sure that I was taken care of, too. I loved that she used our names often; it made us feel cared for and made it easy for us to build a relationship with her quickly. Even though she was taking care of other patients at the same time, we felt like we were the only ones in the hospital because she kept such a close eye on us and got us everything we needed so quickly. She did an amazing job, and we appreciate it very much. It was clear that she was going above and beyond instead of just doing the bare minimum of her job description. She wasn’t just checking off a list; she actually cared about us and did more than was necessary.

Kamie helped me, my husband, and our sweet baby F before, during, and after our c-section.  She was also with me every step of the way during our post-op complications.  For the short version of the story, I started losing a lot of blood post-op.  Kamie assessed, communicated, and followed through with the multi-disciplinary team to get me the best treatment.  Somehow, I felt very calm during the decision to have multiple blood transfusions (8 units in all), at least 7 liters of other fluids, and 2 units of FFP.  But amidst the busyness, Kamie looked me in the eyes with reassurance that my team was taking the right steps to help me.  We might not have known what we needed to do “next,” per se, but the fact that she communicated to me multiple times brought me reassurance, strength, and motivation.  She kept me grounded and calm.  She confidently communicated to everyone, so I go the best treatment.  I’m an RN, not currently practicing (but licensed), and I hope I can have a nurse like her again or be like her.  Thank you—You helped save me, Kamie.  You’re a hero.
