Sam touched our lives at a moment that my mom (the patient) and I (colleague & family member) needed it most.
Samantha was nominated by a family member/colleague and here is what she had to say:
Sam touched our lives at a moment when my mom (the patient) and I (colleague & family member) needed it most. Sam stood out and helped and supported us more than she knows. Words are not enough to let her know how much Mom and I will be forever grateful for the care that she gave us. From the admission and getting her ready for a procedure, there was a vast amount of information … Sam never showed us any impatience but showed compassion and respect, repeatedly and what she has shown us has made all the difference in Mom’s recovery. One day Sam was the charge nurse & Mom was postop day 1, she was so nauseated and miserable and Sam did not stop trying to make her comfortable. She kept communicating with the NP and MD. There was also a day that I had to work while mom was in CVICU, and discharge planning was being done. As busy as Sam was, she volunteered to talk to the case manager & informed me of what needed to be done for her cardiac rehab. She just said, “I’ll get the info, don’t worry about anything.” Sam provided me with the strength that a daughter (and colleague) needed. I am grateful for the listening ears, patience, and the many advice. Thank you for providing my mom with excellent care and for going far above and beyond for her. Our hearts are full and grateful for you, Sam.
