She provided exceptional care to the patient and her family during the most difficult time of their lives. She did this with compassion, ensuring the patient’s dignity and providing the strength through words and actions to will this patient to continue her fight to live.
Denise is a kind, caring, and exemplary role model for our unit and all of our nurses. She cares for each and every one of her patients as if they were her own family. She is calm and always in a great mood. Change of shift report is always a pleasure when working with Denise. She often volunteers to help out her coworkers with a pleasant attitude. I have never heard her say anything negative, she is always so positive even with our most challenging patients.

She cared for a challenging patient - one of our own co-workers. My first time taking care of this patient, I received report from Denise. She told me a story about how this patient’s son had been sick and hospitalized after an accident, and she knew that the patient described attending to her son’s daily needs, “willing him to live.” Denise told her she would be that person for her, she would help her, motivate her to fight to live. I was moved by Denise’s kindness, treating the patient with dignity and compassion, along with the family. When nurses are told we are angels, sometimes it is true, and other times it’s not. When I think of Denise, I truly believe she is one of those bedside Angels.

Denise constantly and consistently demonstrates compassionate care and treats all of her co-workers with the same compassion. She is the ultimate team player and, without a question, will stay after her shift to lend a hand to turn a patient. We are all very lucky to have Denise as a co-worker, and her patients are even luckier!

Denise gives her patients all the time they need. She has a warm and calming effect on those she takes care of. Denise recently took care of a patient who was a long-time employee of Milford Hospital. She provided exceptional care to the patient and her family during the most difficult time of their lives. She did this with compassion, ensuring the patient’s dignity and providing the strength through words and actions to will this patient to continue her fight to live. She had a connection with the patient through many years of working together, which provided comfort and trust during her illness.
