I have been a Nurse for over 22 years and currently enrolled in the Post-Master's PMHNP program. I am a wife and mother of three children. I had a passion for nursing since I was 7 years old. I started my journey in nursing as a nursing assistant at the age of 17, and by the age of 21 I had two children. I was in foster care with my two children until I aged out to system, and by the age of 22 I was accepted into an LPN program. This program changed my life and it afforded me the opportunity to give my children a better life than I had. I spent 10 years as an LPN and then went back to complete my ASN in 2011, BSN in 2014, MSN in 2016, and now back to complete my post-master's certificate. Nursing is truly a work of the heart and I strive each day to give back to what was offered to me. I am grateful to be a student at Purdue Global, with the support that has been provided to me, has made my dream of becoming a NP a reality. If I can share anything with potential nursing students and existing nursing students, is that nursing is truly a wonderful profession where we get the opportunity to take care of individuals who cannot take care of themselves at the time. It is truly an honor to be called a nurse, and besides being a wife and mother, it is one of my greatest accomplishments.
