All of the staff I've encountered while at Providence Medical Center have been thoughtful, competent, and made me feel safe and well cared for. However, there was one nurse who I felt was especially important to my recovery. 

Jenn was my nurse for several days following admittance into PCU from the ER. She received me into the department and settled me in my room, while I was at my worst. During this time Jenn was communicative, making sure I knew what was happening and understood what she needed to do. During this time she was efficient and treated me with respect and dignity, making a difficult and scary process as easy as possible.

As my care progressed, Jenn continued to communicate well and be respectful. She kept me updated on my status and talked with me about how I was progressing, explaining why the doctor had made specific orders and how those orders would help me understand what was going on with me. Her effort to contextualize the doctor's orders helped me to better communicate with my internist and truly made a difference.

As I began to improve, I occasionally noticed that Jenn would help out clinic staff who came to transport me or perform tests, but may not have done quite everything the previous person had. She didn't scold or dress down the worker; she just quietly helped out, making sure nothing was missed.

I had a new nurse for my last couple of days here, but before leaving the last time, Jenn spoke with me about my long-term needs in an encouraging way, gently reminding me my choices played an important role in my long-term health and showing true compassion and a desire for me to have the best possible outcomes.

While at Providence, I have been impressed with the staff and level of care I've received. I've been consistently well cared for. However, Jenn's care stands out as exemplary due to the skills she brings and the compassion and concern she's shown. I believe she's truly a DAISY Nurse.
