My father came in for a biopsy and, due to heart complications, ended up in the ICU. We have been balancing the need to make urgent medical decisions alongside the need to handle complex side effects. Darien has been a light during this difficult time.  

First, Darien's calm demeanor has done wonders to keep my dad calm during his ICU stay. She has remained upbeat and clear on all the steps. As we were discussing the next steps in my dad's treatment, Darien made sure she was in the room to hear what was being said and our concerns. There have been a number of teams involved in my dad's care, and Darien has actively spoken up to ensure our family is heard and involved in my dad's treatment plan.  

Today, during a meeting with internal medicine a lot of information was discussed that potentially conflicted with prior information. After the meeting, Darien proactively took the time to first reassure our family regarding the news and second very patiently answered all our questions. She went as far as pulling up a picture of a heart and explaining the way it works in a way we could all understand.  

Every interaction with Darien has been kind, patient, and understanding. I can't thank her enough for being a problem solver and advocate for our family.
