I can only imagine the amount of responsibility and stress one has to go through to continue to advocate and care for someone so fragile and on the brink of death.
Nurse Jess was one of my daughter's primary care nurses during her 218 days NICU stay. I even believe she was my daughter's favorite person! I know other moms may be sad to know they are not their child's favorite person, but Nurse Jess was different. She was always by my daughter's side after every major surgery. I'm not sure how that played out, but maybe God knew my daughter needed Nurse Jess by her side during those difficult times. Honestly, there isn't just one incident that was more important than another. I'm talking about a child who had three major surgeries with a tough recovery, battled sepsis, and developed ROP, but there was always this constant, persistent voice cheering her on every step of the way, no matter all the bumps in the road. I can only imagine the amount of responsibility and stress one has to go through to continue to advocate and care for someone so fragile and on the brink of death. When they say, "Not all heroes wear capes," I truly now understand because my daughter's hero wore scrubs.
