My 69-year-old mom was taken by ambulance from her job to the hospital. It was very busy and nurse Justin was very carefully taking the blood work ordered using what looked like a small version of an ultrasound to accurately reach the correct vein. (It was a vein finder) He was very eager to answer and explain any questions as well as exactly what he was doing. My family was there to witness as she was able to identify the fear and tension we all felt as my mom had severe symptoms of a heart attack. Justin changed the subject after we all made our introductions. He helped our tension disappear for a bit and to keep our minds on something else he told us about his history of nursing. Obviously, he is well trained and helped us smile and as my mom started feeling more relaxed and comfortable he shared some examples of his experience. We enjoyed his humor. It wasn't just that he was extremely thorough with us, he eased us when he could as for our worry. When he explained the blood work and x-ray he was extremely helpful letting us know a few things as to what body functions were.  My mom passed the tests and her chest pain subsided. Justin was compassionate about his patients and our family making sure that not only was my mom taken care of, but quite often asking us if we needed a blanket, etc. He checked on us regularly; he wasn't missing for hours like some nurses in the ER. We were IMPRESSED, to say the least. I would say his previous employment molded him into the BEST NURSE I have encountered in possibly my lifetime. I even mentioned to him I wish he could be my mom's nurse throughout her stay on the floor she was sent to. I highly recommend him for The DAISY Award.
