I had to do Peritoneal Dialysis for a patient in CCU. The CCU Nurse, Lisa, was in the room taking care of the patient when I approached the door; she was unaware that I was there. Now I know an efficient Nurse when I witness them in action. Lisa was beside the bed doing care, but not just nursing care, she was doing soul care.

This had been our patient and her decline in her condition was evident, however, the nurse was fiddling at the bedside but would reach over and stroke her head while talking to her. It was not for show, she had no idea I was there. She spent 10 minutes while I prepared my equipment outside the room just speaking to her while touching her hand and her face. If I am ever in CCU, I hope I would get someone as compassionate as her.
