When we think of nurses the words kindness, compassion, and caring come to mind. We think that nurses should possess all these qualities while caring for patients in a hospital. What we don't think about is, "What does a compassionate, kind, and caring nurse look like?" To me, a nurse who possesses all these qualities wears her nurse hat inside and outside the hospital setting.

The nurse I have nominated is not only a nurse here inside these hospital walls, but she is also a nurse outside these walls. What I mean by this is that even when former patients call looking for her because they are in crisis and need someone to listen to them, if available she will answer those calls and make time for these patients. She listens to them provides education and advice, and most importantly, communicates therapeutically which makes former patients feel that they do matter. In the four years that she has dedicated to this hospital, she is one of the nurses who can connect with patients. Her compassion, kindness, and caring characteristics should be recognized!
