She is amazingly good at reading unspoken needs/wishes and does her best to fulfill every one of those needs. Such perception is a great trait in a nurse, as was her gentleness and kindness.
Her reassuring ways showed the moment I was wheeled into my room after surgery. I didn't see how I'd transfer to the bed. She understood my dilemma immediately and explained that she and her team would do it all for me. Knowledge is always power to me, and the more I know about my own situations, the more relaxed and comfortable I will be. She sensed that immediately about me - a fact I greatly appreciated. Clearly, explaining things to her patients is a special talent of hers. Without talking down to me she always gave me the information I needed to understand and be comfortable with every move she and her team made on my behalf. She let me know when my Dr. wrote any new orders, The Drs. team would interact with her, staff would interact with me, and the meanings of every action around me. She welcomed questions and when there was one about my meds, she did not know the answer to, she called the hospital pharmacist so as to give me a complete and accurate answer. That impressed me. I was also incredibly impressed with the fact that she became a CNA at the age of 15 (while still in HS) and continued on to achieve her RN degree - also while barely being more than a teenager. She is amazingly good at reading unspoken needs/wishes and does her best to fulfill every one of those needs. Such perception is a great trait in a nurse, as was her gentleness and kindness. I liked her quiet personality, and I found her delightfully intriguing. I asked her some questions about herself, but she did not mind. She only sat once for a few minutes, but when she did, it felt very much like having one of my own friends there. Another point to be made about her is her perfectionist approach to her specific duties. No shortcuts, no missed steps. I felt very fortunate to have her as my main nurse and am quite sure there could have been no one better. In every way, I see her as the perfect nurse. She has the best possible combination of skills, great training, compassionate caregiving, a sweet disposition, and dedication to her patients. This young woman is absolutely the perfect nurse.
