Megan was caring for a patient who had survived a horrible accident on Christmas Eve. The patient missed Christmas with her family and was truly a miracle to be alive after being hit by a train. The patient's daughter was hoping to take her mom to the cafeteria to have a New Year's Eve dinner with her grandchildren. However, the patient was having a lot of pain and urgency and was not safe to be off the unit. The patient's room was too small to accommodate the family in her room, so Megan set up a few tables in the therapy gym and found chairs for everyone to sit on. The family was sincerely appreciative to be able to get together and enjoy their special meal and time together, and it was truly a perfect example of our nurses going above and beyond their duties to accommodate a patient's personal and emotional needs. I was so proud of Megan and wanted to take a moment to recognize her exceptional kindness.
