Corie Barlow has only been at Shriners Children’s Hospital for a few months now, but when she is working, it is a totally different atmosphere. She cares for each patient as if they were her own child. She can be seen walking the babies around the unit by wheelchair or carrying them just so they can get a different scenery other than their ICU room. The day after Thanksgiving, she went around asking their favorite things/animals and then drew them on their ICU doors. One child loves apple juice, so she drew him a gingerbread man holding apple juice. Another patient loved turtles, so she drew a turtle wearing a Christmas hat. She drew a personalized Christmas themed photo for every single patient in the ICU between patient care. It’s comforting to know there are nurses like Corie in the world that truly care for their patients. She deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond every day.
