I trusted all of the nurses, but I felt confident leaving for work and feeling safe when Joanne was caring for my daughter.
I found out at 22 weeks that my daughter would be incredibly small and premature. My daughter made her entrance into the world at just 11b 140z and 13 inches long. Shortly after delivery, I was wheeled to the NICU to meet my daughter as she needed to be resuscitated at birth. Before I even knew who she was, Joanne Mercer helped me sit up to meet my daughter and told me how beautiful she was. A few days later, she cared for my daughter. She was the second nurse we asked to be our primary. At the time, Joanne was already primarying another baby, but once that little one went home, she cared for my daughter. Joanne always went above and beyond. She gifted my child with books, a Christmas dress, and even surprised us with an ornament she had made for the patient and/or family two weeks prior to my daughter. She said she took it home to let it dry on her tree. This meant the absolute world to her dad and l. Joanne always educated my daughters dad and I on what every alarm meant, every possible outcome, and always had us laughing and made us feel so comfortable and safe. I trusted all of the nurses, but I felt confident leaving for work and feeling safe when Joanne was caring for my daughter. Upon our discharge, Joanne made everything go so quickly and smoothly. She took several pictures of us and a video of our final walk through our entire experience. We had several amazing nurses, but there was no one who compared to Joanne. She is the most beautiful, kind soul who shows up every day with a heart of gold and a soul full of passion for her job. She loved my daughter just as much as I do. Joanne still checks in on her to this day. I am forever grateful to her. She kept my daughter alive, and she did it with all of the love in her heart. We sincerely thank Joanne and owe her the world.
