We wish to nominate Mackenzie Molesworth, RN for the DAISY Award. My husband was admitted with severe sepsis, which led to (more complications and procedures). Throughout, he was treated by many excellent people, however, Mackenzie stood out like a shining STAR. As (he) says, “she has a spidey sense for nursing.” She was aware of every change and was quick to inform the appropriate people and inform and follow up with (him). He had been through so much and when he was nursed by Mackenzie, he was much more secure and relaxed a bit. She is so competent, thorough, and clear about what was going on, what meds were given and why, answering questions and concerns. Instances where she went above and beyond was she “made it happen” for the case management team to communicate and complete tricky requirements for his discharge, meds, and papers to save his job. Her intelligence and utter concentration on the care of her patient made a huge difference in (his) difficult and complicated hospitalization. We don’t really think it would have all come together without her compassion and competence. We sincerely hope she gets her DAISY. Mac is an excellent nurse.”
